Holiday Coverage Best Practices

How has everyone managed coverage over this holiday weekend? Anyone have some best practices you want to share with all of us so we can learn from each other?

 

Since joining Meta we have been fortunate enough to get Meta Days around each of our standard holidays to allow for a longer weekend and much needed break. We’ve started to split our team in half on these days to ensure we have coverage and have team members take another day off in that same week or the following week to make up for it.

👋 Thanks for starting this conversation, Gordana! With the holidays fast approaching, I’m curious if others have thoughts to share on holiday coverage. 💡

What worked well with my previous team (15 agents) was looking at historical data of conversation volume from the past 2 years. With this data in mind and a forecasting tool, we were able to calculate the ideal amount of daily coverage we’d need during the holidays.

Once we had headcount in a good spot, each teammate filled out the top 3 choices of days they’d prefer to work. With this method, each teammate worked 1 day over the holiday break, and then took that day off at a later date.
